 BOUNCING SOULS
BouncingSouls.com

The Bouncing Souls started out with the intention of playing loud, fast, three-chord party music around their native New Jersey. Besides, it gave them something to do while they were in high school. Upon graduation and after years of struggling to find a label to release their records, The Souls got some money together and -- in true D.I.Y. fashion -- formed Chunksaah Records in 1993. Twenty-five years later the Bouncing Souls have 9 studio records under their belts and countless singles, EPs, live releases, and DVD releases.

 YOUTH BRIGADE
Facebook.com/YouthBrigade

Youth Brigade formed at the end of summer 1980 amid the explosion of the punk scene in Southern California. The L.A. punk scene at that time had been detonated by the repressive culture of the post-70’s burnout. Amongst many of the bands that one day would become known as early pioneers of the hardcore punk rock scene, Youth Brigade have created a legend as one of the most powerful independent bands in the North America.

 TITUS ANDRONICUS
Facebook.com/TitusAndronicusOfficial

Titus Andronicus is a punk/indie rock band from Glen Rock, New Jersey, United States, formed in 2005. The band is composed of singer/lyricist/guitarist Patrick Stickles, drummer Eric Harm, bassist Julian Veronesi, and guitarists Liam Betson and Adam Reich. The group takes its name from the Shakespeare play Titus Andronicus, and has cited musical and stylistic influences as diverse as Neutral Milk Hotel and Pulp.

 BOY SETS FIRE
Facebook.com/BoySetsFire

BoySetsFire has been a band for over two decades. In that time we have played hundreds of shows to anyone that would watch us, from basements to festival audiences. We lived through the terror of rap-rock, the tyranny of nu-metal, and the dark days of pop-punk. We were around before the internet. Truth. We made demo tapes. We have recorded 4 LPs, EPs, CDs, and even a Cassingle. We have played Rookie over 1,000 times. We have fallen off more stages than most people have stood on. We have been signed and dropped and signed and dropped.

Frankly, most would have given up years ago.

 THE RATCHETS
Facebook.com/RatchetsOfficial

Taking their name from a lyric in The Slicker's song "Johnny Too Bad", THE RATCHETS fuse rock-n-roll, punk and reggae music with their very own explosive blend of songwriting.

For reasons still unknown, the band announced a "hiatus" in 2007, and not much more than a murmur has been heard since, until now!

Ready or not, The Ratchets are back to deliver the promise inherent in all great rock-n-roll groups, a promise to get out on the ledge…to walk though the fire…to pray like the hunted.

 LAURA STEVENSON
Facebook.com/LauraStevensonMusic

Laura Stevenson was born and raised on Long Island into a family of mariners and music makers. She spent many of her younger days on the sugar barges of NY harbor with her father and uncles, who all made their living on the water, at one time running one of the largest fleets on the Hudson. Meanwhile, her mother’s parents were successful musicians; Harry Simeone, the composer and choral arranger responsible for such works as “The Little Drummer Boy” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and Margaret McCravy (stage name McCrae), a singer from South Carolina who got her start accompanying her elder siblings “The McCravy Brothers,” a harmonious gospel folk duo, before continuing on her own to record and tour with bandleader Benny Goodman. Armed with her grandfather’s love for modernist dissonance, a genetic predisposition for harmony, and with her sea legs firmly planted in the traditions of American folk singing, Stevenson began creating melodies at a very young age.

 MEPHISKAPHELES
Facebook.com/MephiskaphelesOfficial/

Mephiskapheles are back in red and black for 2013. The band who invented the devilish, whimsical MTV- and radio-friendly genre of Satanic Ska, then defied critics by exploring even greater possibilities for their darkly original ska fusion, have reunited with a new tour and new album in the works.

Formed in the East Village of New York City in early 1991 by a group of artists, ad-agency employees, and jazz musicians, Mephiskapheles played their first show on Long Island. From day one, the band began to attract a diverse, dedicated fan base.

Flash-forward to today with Satanic Ska being, without a doubt, the genre of music most relevant to our current times. Mephiskapheles are picking up where they left off, with a reissue program with Jump Up Records, a focused performance schedule, and a new Mephiskapheles album slated for 2014.

 THE FLATLINERS
Facebook.com/TheFlatlinersToronto

There’s something that happens when four people have been playing music together, day in and day out, for ten years. In every basement, every colossal concert hall, every small European nation that would have them, the same four people playing the same four instruments. A full decade of plane tickets and van repairs and hangovers and fast food. At some point, the interaction between instruments, between members, transcends the brotherly love of most touring bands and enters the terrifying realm of twin telepathy. The Flatliners aren’t just four dudes banging out riffs five hundred miles from home every night. They’re four dudes banging out riffs in the hallways of the Overlook Hotel just like the unsettling twin girls in the The Shining.

 LOST IN SOCIETY
http://www.lostinsociety.com/

Jolting, fierce and raw: Lost In Society’s live show has been described as all of the above. The NJ-based alternative punk act has nothing but promise ahead. They’ve performed at large festivals such as Vans Warped Tour, Fun Fun Fun Fest, CMJ Music Marathon, and SXSW. They’ve landed career-breaking performances with acts such as Taking Back Sunday, The Bouncing Souls, Off With Their Heads, The Flatliners, The Pietasters and Teenage Bottlerocket, among others. Their electrifying live shows, coupled with a contagious sound, have given the group a reputation that parallels punk acts such as Rise Against and Green Day early in their careers. Their steadfast approach to touring, recording and promotion has made LIS one of most viable alternative punk bands today.

 THE BRIGANTINES
Facebook.com/TheBrigantines

The Brigantines are an original Surf-Pop group from Red Bank, NJ - combining the classic surf sounds of The Beach Boys and The Ventures with the pop-sensibility of The Kinks and Chris Isaak.

 ORGAN THIEVES
Facebook.com/OrganThieves

To stamp a definitive start date on when Toronto-based punk/rock band Organ Thieves formed isn’t an easy task.

The abridged story goes like this: While the idea of the band had been ruminating for several years, it took a series of unexpected pushes forward for vocalist Chuck Coles to transform the band he started in 2008 – as a largely acoustic one-man side project – into the four member outfit it is today.

While Coles and bassist Mike Smith have known each other since childhood – where they grew up cutting their musical teeth together in Oshawa, Ontario – they each drifted towards their own respective projects. Coles bounced between a variety of musically diverse bands, ranging from punk rock to reggae, in an effort to gather a broader musical perspective.

 RESTORATIONS
Facebook.com/RestorationsTheBand

At a time when the music world is saturated with more bands than ever, Restorations are a refreshing change of pace: An act who undeniably embody the DIY spirit but also bring along a real breadth of musical knowledge and an unlikely set of influences that somehow manage to work perfectly together. Equal parts punk rock and polemics, Restorations is a unique group of musicians that’s difficult to categorize and even harder to get out of your head.

Formed out of the ashes of the long-running Philly rock act Jena Berlin, Restorations - vocalist/guitarists Jon Loudon, Dave Klyman and Ben Pierce joining forces with drummer Carlin Brown and bassist Dan Zimmerman - have crafted an album, LP2, that transcends punk rock and picks up where they’reextremely well-received self-titled LP left off. The irony of this situation is the fact that Restorations was supposed to be a break from the endless grind of sleeping on floors and playing countless tours that the band experienced in their previous incarnation.
